The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Predictions — With Some Good News
The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
