PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.
PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.
The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.
The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.
However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.
In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.
Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
